My name is Michael Nanden. I was born and raised in Suriname (South America). After studying and living in the Netherlands for nearly 18 years, I decided to move back to my home country in 2011.
To me photography is all about the people I meet and the places I go. It is a sense of freedom in discovering yourself and growing as a person. I am naturally intrigued by people's raw reality of everyday life. Whether it be beauty, enthusiasm, defiance or vulnerability.
My current work is focused on social issues. They are visual stories offering an alternative view, insights into parts unknown or even a trigger to a deeper, heartfelt experience.
